During class today we began our reform circle discussion. Students are doing a nice job as we examine reform between 1800 and 1860 and relate it to today.

During class today we discussed the concept of “Mudslinging” in politics and related it to the Presidential Election of 1828. We watched some modern examples of mudslinging on youtube and had an interesting discussion about this topic.

During class today students were teaching one another about supreme court cases. Next class we will be moving into the foreign policy of President Monroe.

Homework: Read “Monroe Doctrine” – check website for this document – and answer attached questions.

During class today we finished our discussion about Monroe’s economic policy, and we started a group activity analyzing the development of the idea of nationalism in the judicial branch of government.
